The Junior Architect provides design and technical support to Senior Architects and Project Managers. In the Philippines, this role is often a mix of CAD/BIM drafting, LGU permitting assistance, and site inspections to ensure the contractor is following the blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Documentation & Design
Develop detailed As-Built, Construction, and Contract Drawings using AutoCAD or Revit.
Create 3D visualizations and renderings for client presentations (SketchUp + V-Ray/Enscape/Lumion).
Assist in space planning and conceptual design phases.
2. Project Coordination & Permitting
Prepare architectural permit sets required by the Office of the Building Official (OBO).
Coordinate with allied professionals (Civil, EE, PME) to ensure no "clashes" in the drawings.
Organize and maintain project folders and transmittals.
3. Site Supervision
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality of work.
Assist in the preparation of Punch Lists and site reports.
Verify that materials delivered to the site match the specified standards.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (. Arch).
Licensure
Registered and Licensed Architect (RLA) is a plus, but many firms hire underboard graduates as "Junior Designers" or "Apprentices."
Software
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is mandatory. Revit/BIM knowledge is increasingly a "must-have."
