Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welding Inspector to carry out welding inspections, ensure compliance with project specifications, and support quality control activities for Oil & Gas projects in Qatar. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of welding processes, WPS/PQR requirements, NDT methods, and industry codes such as ASME, API, and AWS.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspection of welds including joint preparation, fit?up, root, and final weld checks.
- Verify welding activities are conducted according to approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
- Monitor welding parameters, heat input, pre?heat, interpass temperature, and consumable handling.
- Coordinate with QC, welding supervisors, and construction teams to ensure work is compliant with quality standards.
- Review welding documents, maps, material traceability, and ensure proper documentation throughout the project.
- Witness NDT processes such as RT, UT, MT, PT, and ensure results align with acceptance criteria.
- Identify non?conformities, raise reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, construction drawings, and international welding codes.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain updated quality records.
- Enforce adherence to HSE requirements and safe welding practices at all times.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- CSWIP 3.1 / AWS?CWI or equivalent welding inspection certification (mandatory).
- Minimum 5+ years of welding inspection experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section IX, API, AWS standards, and NDT techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret isometrics, P&IDs, and welding-related drawings.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
