We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AML Compliance Officer to strengthen our compliance framework and support our expanding operations.
Role Overview
The AML Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), sanctions compliance, and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while helping mitigate financial crime risks across the business.
Responsibilities
Monitor and review customer transactions to identify suspicious or unusual activity.
Conduct AML/KYC due diligence, enhanced due diligence (EDD), UBO verifications and ongoing customer monitoring.
Investigate alerts generated through transaction monitoring systems and escalate suspicious activities where appropriate.
Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs/SARs) with relevant regulatory authorities.
Ensure compliance with local and international AML/CTF regulations and sanctions requirements.
Assist in developing, updating, and implementing AML compliance policies and procedures.
Perform sanctions and politically exposed persons (PEP) screening.
Support internal audits, regulatory reporting, QCB related submission and compliance reviews.
Deliver AML compliance training and awareness sessions to employees.
Collaborate with operations, product, legal, and risk teams to ensure compliance controls are integrated into business processes.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to compliance activities.
Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements, fintech risks, and industry best practices.
Review merchant onboarding documents, including CR, commercial license, establishment card, bank details, ownership documents, tax registration, and related supporting documents.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in AML compliance, financial crime, risk management, or regulatory compliance within fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, KYC requirements, sanctions screening, PEP and financial crime typologies.
Familiarity with fintech products such as digital wallets, payments, and remittances.
Experience using AML transaction monitoring and screening tools.
Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or compliance /AML related qualification are an advantage.
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Qatar and international markets.
Experience working in a fast-paced startup or fintech environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Understanding of risk-based compliance approaches and regulatory technology solutions.
