Senior Accountant (Minimum 7 years' experience in GCC)
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting:
- Manage all aspects of project accounting, including cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for MEP and construction projects.
- Oversee the preparation and review of job cost reports, including direct costs and overhead allocations.
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure they are within budget, analyzing variances and reporting them to management.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports related to MEP and construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements specific to the construction industry.
- Cost Management:
- Analyze and track project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and other expenses.
- Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost data and timely reporting.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding project costs and financial transactions.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including forecasting future financial performance and cash flow needs.
- Work with project managers to prepare detailed financial forecasts and track performance against budgets.
- Billing and Collections:
- Oversee the billing process, including the preparation and submission of client invoices and progress billings.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments from clients.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or financial improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants or accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Review and approve work completed by junior team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Systems and Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies in accounting practices and systems.
- Utilize accounting software and ERP systems specific to the construction industry for accurate financial reporting.
- Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the MEP or construction industry.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including project cost accounting and job costing.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems relevant to the construction industry.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project managers and other stakeholders.
